SHRM(Society for Human Resource Management)が実施した調査によると、従業員の80%が、就職先を検討する際に強い企業文化が重要であると回答しています(SHRM、2021年)。 The Future of Human Resources “Leading the New Way to Work in 2025” Part 3 of 3In Part 1 of this series, we shared our vision of the future of Human Resources in 2025. We laid out a roadmap with four key milestones for business leaders and HR departments to consider, allowing leaders to understand what the “Next Normal” will look like.In Part 2, we focused on the Physical Workspaces and New Work Tools/Technologies.Now, in Part 3, we explore how leaders, managers and HR departments can improve the Employee Experience Management (EXM) in their companies. Also, we take a look at how the Work Culture is changing, including issues like how companies can develop their mission and values that attract and retain the top talent. The current environment requires HR to be quick, agile, and flexible in order to support employees and the organization’s needs. The traditional approach of having physical offices and real estate has become obsolete in this digital age. HR must be able to adapt to the changing work culture and provide employees with excellent employee experience management (EXM).Employee Experience Management (EXM) is a holistic management approach to creating a positive and engaging workplace culture and environment that aligns with a company’s mission and values. It encompasses all aspects of an employee’s experience, from their first contact with the company during the hiring process to their daily work environment and opportunities for growth and development. It also includes their eventual departure from the company.EXM is crucial for creating a supportive and engaging work environment that aligns with the company’s mission and values (for more information on cascading Mission and Values throughout the organization, read here). Steps a company can take in prioritizing EXM are as follows:①Communicate regularly and transparently: Regular and transparent communication is critical to creating a sense of trust and transparency between the company and its employees. Companies can use various channels, such as email, video calls, and internal social media platforms, to communicate company news, updates, and changes in a timely and transparent manner. Companies can also regularly survey their employees and act on key findings in order to gain trust.②Provide flexible work arrangements: Many employees have adjusted to remote work and flexible schedules during the pandemic. Companies can continue to offer these arrangements to accommodate employees’ changing needs and preferences. Providing the necessary resources for remote work, such as reliable technology and equipment, can help employees feel supported and connected.③Foster a sense of community: With remote work, employees may feel disconnected from their colleagues and the company culture. Companies can foster a sense of community by creating virtual social events and forums where employees can interact and connect with each other.④Prioritize employee health and wellness: Employee health and wellness have become even more critical during the pandemic. Companies can provide resources and support for employees to help them manage stress, maintain work-life balance, and promote physical health.⑤Invest in employee development: Employees want to feel challenged, engaged, and valued in their jobs. Companies can invest in employee development opportunities, such as training, mentoring, and career advancement, to help employees grow and develop in their roles.Workplace culture refers to the shared values, beliefs, and behaviors that define how work is done inside a company. It includes the organization’s mission and vision, communication style, leadership, teamwork, and other cultural elements that shape how employees experience working for the company. Workplace culture can be observed in the physical space, work environment (including remote work), and social interactions within the company (including on messaging platforms).Leadership, Management and HR departments work in tandem to build a strong company culture that plays a key role in attracting and retaining the top talent. Companies that have a strong brand and company culture are more likely to attract the best candidates and retain employees. HR can work with leadership to develop a mission and values that align with the company’s goals and resonate with employees. This can help attract candidates that share the same values, creating a more harmonious and productive work environment. According to a survey conducted by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), 80% of employees said that a strong company culture is important when considering a job offer (SHRM, 2021).In addition to EXM, HR departments work to build a strong company culture that plays a key role in attracting and retaining top talent. Companies that have a strong brand and company culture are more likely to attract the best candidates and retain employees. To develop a strong company culture, HR can:①Work with leadership to develop a mission and values that align with the company’s goals and resonate with employees. This can help attract candidates that share the same values, creating a more harmonious and productive work environment.②Provide opportunities for employees to participate in company-wide initiatives and events to promote a sense of community and belonging.③Offer rewards and recognition programs to acknowledge and reward employees for their hard work and contributions.④Foster open and transparent communication between employees and leadership, creating a culture of trust and collaboration.According to a survey conducted by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), 80% of employees said that a strong company culture is important when considering a job offer (SHRM, 2021).By implementing these strategies and others, companies can create a strong company culture that can attract and retain top talent, promoting employee engagement and productivity. It’s also essential for HR to stay current on trends and best practices related to remote work and digital transformation. HR should be equipped with the necessary technology and resources to support employees and the organization in this new era of work. Providing employees with the tools they need to be successful in a remote work environment, such as laptops, software, and virtual collaboration platforms, is crucial.A report by the Harvard Business Review found that organizations that invest in technology and resources for remote work are more likely to have higher employee satisfaction and engagement levels (Harvard Business Review, 2021).More than ever, HR departments play a critical role in shaping the employee experience, attracting and retaining the top talent, and supporting the organization in this rapidly changing work environment. Speed, agility, and flexibility are key to HR’s success, and the ability to adapt to new trends and technologies will determine the success of HR in the coming new age of work. Are you an HR Leader who wants to get your company ready for the Next Normal?
